Message from the President

Welcome to the Franklin County Chamber. Thank you for your interest in the Franklin County Community, we look forward to getting to know you.

As a member business of the Chamber you can accomplish in the community what no one business or person can do alone. Our membership support allows the Chamber to continue building new and improved programs that represent the interests of your business, promoting doing business locally in the Franklin County community, and to encourage a strong local economy through leadership development and continuing education. Together we can build a stronger Franklin County and we hope you choose to be a part of it.

Alan Stenger

Stenger's Sugar Shack/The Sap Bucket, Owner

With a background of 30+ years as a construction executive, Alan decided to make his hobby a business. He started Stenger’s Sugar Shack in 2017 to produce and sell Maple Syrup. It has since grown to include gourmet jerky, spices and sauces. In 2022 he and his wife opened their retail store and gift shop in Metamora, The Sap Bucket. Alan has a diversified background with several different businesses and is a Meta-Certified Advertiser. He is a member of The Metamora Merchant’s Association, Historic Metamora, Metamora Performing Arts, I Love Metamora and Brookville Harmony Lodge #11. His number one goal is to share knowledge and help other businesses and organizations grow throughout Franklin County.

Eulah has a background in coordinating local events has allowed her to infuse energy and excitement into our networking opportunities, while her commitment to relationship-building ensures that every member feels valued and supported. She believes that business growth should be both strategic and enjoyable and strives to create engaging experiences that combine professional development with a spirit of fun and collaboration, helping chamber members thrive while building lasting partnerships within our community.

Beth is the owner of Odyssey Insurance & Investments. She obtained her Masters in Business Administration from SNHU and started her insurance career by filing insurance claims for an orthodontist office. Eventually she decided to become an agent which lead to the opening of her own agency in 2022 located in Batesville, IN. She is a working mom of three kids who works to solidify work/life balance not only for herself but her employees as well. She has a passion for advising and educating her clients so they can truly understand their insurance policy. In addition, Beth loves learning new things that will allow her to have more “tools in her arsenal” to better position and navigate her clients

Bill Schirmer

Bill Schirmer wears many hats in the Franklin County community. Since 2005 Schirmer has owned and operated Schirmer’s Service Center in Brookville, where his family-owned business provides automotive repair and outdoor power equipment sales and service. Bill has sat on the Franklin County Chamber Board since 2007, and he has previously held the Board President position for six years. Bill currently serves as President of the SEI READI, Inc Board of Directors, and has been engaged in the Franklin County Economic Development for many years. He is currently the President of the Redevelopment Commission. In his spare time, he enjoys farming, raising cattle, and spending time with his grandchildren

Brandon Ball

Brandon Ball is highly involved in Franklin County and throughout the SE Indiana region.  Originally from FC, he moved away to attend school at Indiana State University where he received degrees in Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship.  Once home to Franklin County he started Perpetual Motion Marketing, and then purchased Hilltop Restaurant (at the time called Crazy Dogs) right here in Brookville in September of 2021.  He has served as the Chamber President, and currently serves on the chamber board as well as other boards throughout SE Indiana.  When not running his businesses or volunteering with other organizations, you can usually find him on the golf course or spending time with his Fiancé and German Shepard, Diesel

Steve Stahley

Creek Bottom Brewery

Steve graduated from University of Cincinnati with a BS in physics. He joined Cummins as the leader of Central Measurement Services team where his team globally supports Cummins plants and technical centers which includes leadership of the Corporate Measurement Centers in Indiana, China and India. His love for for the art and science of brewing led him to establish Creek Bottom Brew LLC, Oldenburg Indiana (www.creekbottombrew.com), He become a certified beer judge, through the Beer Judge Certification Program (www.bjcp.org), and now judges the quality of Creek Bottom’s beer, and travels the US judging at sanctioned beer judging competitions.

Michelle Spurlock

Laurel Legacy Foundation, Inc.

Michelle is the Director of Managed Care at Indiana University Health and the Founder and Executive Director of Laurel Legacy Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Michelle graduated from Franklin County High School in 1993, received her Bachelor’s of Science from Indiana University, and Master’s of Health Administration from University of Cincinnati. Michelle is a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, member of Emerging Leaders and Volunteer Match at Indiana University Health and served two years on the Hillindale Association Board in Batesville. Her free time is spent with family as well as organizing and participating in events which benefit our local community.

Jeanette A Huelseman

American Jobs Center

Jeanette is a Business Services Consultant at an American Jobs Center, with a BS in Information Technology and proficiency in using technology to drive growth and efficiency. She uses this skill set to form alliances and empower organizations by educating them on available resources, money, and services to suit their recruiting and training requirements. In addition, she collaborates with employment and training professionals to link Indiana adults and youth with employment and work-based-learning opportunities through these alliances.

Chamber Committees

Opportunities for Involvement

Members have opportunities to become personally involved in the Chamber’s efforts to shape public policy, to enhance the local business climate, and to design and deliver new programs and services to benefit their membership.

Ambassadors/Member Mentor

Mission:

  • To encourage member engagement and heighten awareness and participation

Goals/Action Plan:

  • Membership Recruitment and Retention
  • Attend Ribbon Cuttings, Business After Hours and other Chamber events
  • Educate community and membership about Chamber benefits through personal contacts

Tourism/Hospitality

Mission:

  • To support the Franklin County Tourism/ Visitors Bureau, and create an awareness of tourism’s effect on and enhancement of, the local economy and residents’ quality of life.

Goals/Action Plan:

  • Monitor legislation affecting local businesses
  • Provide membership representative voice to area Councils through Chamber Executive Leadership

Education/Leadership Development

Mission:

  • Encourage partnership of Businesses, Education, and Civic Communities to develop, cultivate and enhance leadership skills for individuals in our community

Goals/Action Plan:

  • Provide low/no cost educational opportunities in a diverse topical format
  • Act as a liason between educational institutions and the business community
  • Establish a community culture of Leadership and Growth

Business Impact/Govt Relations

Mission:

  • Explore issues, events, and activities that have or could have an influence and impact on living, working, and playing in the Franklin County area. Includes economic, political, social, and educational issues.

Goals/Action Plan:

  • Develop strategic plan that compliments current Tourism Bureau efforts to maximize marketing dollars
  • Recruit new town/county wide events

Mission:

  • Provide promotional and networking opportunities that are of direct benefit to the continued development and success of members and the Chamber.
